At MuleSoft, our company culture is a critical part of our growth and success. We invest heavily in hiring the right people, developing the best programs, and ensuring that there are always opportunities to have fun, all while driving the toward our goals. So we were thrilled to announce that we've been awarded a Top Workplaces honor by the Bay Area News Group for the fourth year in a row. We've also been recognized by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal as one of the Bay Area's Best Places To Work.

These are particularly meaningful to us because they're based solely on employee feedback, measuring aspects of workplace culture like alignment, execution, and connection. We talked to the Bay Area News Group about some of the parts of our culture that make MuleSoft unique and has propelled us to 650 Muleys and counting. As our CEO Greg Schott says, “MuleSoft is a place where everyone around you raises the bar. We have a huge market opportunity, and we're going after it with an amazing team.”

Collaboration + Peer Recognition

Even as we've grown, we know that facetime and connection are critical to our success. Every year, the entire company gathers together for six days to participate in fun team-building activities, learn about the goals for the upcoming year, and let loose. One of the most exciting parts of Meetup is the Owners Awards, in which we recognize and reward outstanding employees. The Owners Awards are peer-nominated and recognize ten outstanding employees across categories like “Doing Whatever It Takes,” “Scaling the Company,” and “Teamwork” every year. The executive team invests time in reading every single nomination submission to evaluate the winners.

Onboarding + Training

When we interview candidates, we care way more about trajectory than we do about altitude. That means that even if you're not quite at the level you want to be, we can tell if you have the hunger and determination to try new things and soak up information. So we invest a lot in our onboarding and training programs to ensure that Muleys are getting as much as they can out of their experience here—if we're not learning, we're not growing as a company. One of our longest-running programs is Kickstart, a four-day orientation and intensive training program for new hires in our Field and Marketing teams. The group gathers from all over the world by the beach outside of San Francisco for workshops, dynamic exercises, and training.

Work + Play

MuleSoft is no doubt a challenging work environment for people who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and ask tough questions, but at the same time, we certainly value the opportunity to take a break and have fun together. Some of the ways we get away from our desks are with monthly Waffle Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays, hosted by a different team each time in different areas of our main office. We also take advantage of the local sports scene, doing outings like Muleys at the Ballpark (we even made it on the big screen!)
