I’m really excited to announce the general availability of Anypoint Service Registry.
Anypoint Service Registry is a cloud-based multitenant governance platform designed for the new challenges of the enterprise. Built from the ground up to support hybrid environments, helping to connect the explosion of endpoints, APIs and services across on-premise systems, the cloud and mobile devices — all on a single platform.
Anypoint Service Registry makes it easy to catalogue and discover services, manage them throughout their lifecycle, monitor their utilization, and enforce standards, policies, and contracts. As a result you can focus on delivering new capability to the business much faster.
Anypoint Service Registry consist of the following five components:
Service Repository, catalog all your SOA assets like services, consumers and the relationship between them. This allows developers to easily discover available assets, promoting reuse and reducing proliferation of services.
Service Analytics, capture and surfaces real-time and historical data about service utilization, providing key metrics and insights in a single, graphical dashboard.
Policy Manager, create and apply runtime policies to enforce compliance, security, quality of service, and operational performance, allowing you to make updates in the runtime environment with no downtime to your services.
Contract Manager, define and enforce contracts between service providers and consumers to manage access, negotiate terms, and specify service levels for a service, based on who the consumers are.
Service Virtualizer, promote location transparency. When a service request comes in, the registry handles that request to locate the right service and service version. Service location is completely transparent so location changes are seamless (no consumer updates required).
Anypoint Service Registry tightly integrates with both with Mule ESB and CloudHub. This has a big impact for existing customers, as they can leverage all the functionality out of the box. Some of the key benefits of implementing SOA governance with Anypoint Service Registry are:

Many of the existing SOA governance solutions were designed and optimized for the era of SOAP Web services. Today, enterprises are dealing with a wildly heterogeneous mix of services, endpoints, and APIs, and they need to manage them in a single solution. Anypoint Service Registry natively supports any protocol, transport, and data format, such as REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, Websockets and more.
Most enterprises are in various stages along the path to the cloud, so today’s solutions need to work seamlessly in a hybrid environment across on-premise and cloud. The cloud has raised the bar on scalability and uptime, so today’s solutions need to scale elastically with demand, as well as be continually upgraded without any manual intervention or downtime.
So what about APIs?
As APIs become increasingly important, an enterprise’s service governance solution needs to provide the foundation for its API management strategy, as SOA governance and API management are closely tied. The Anypoint API Manager builds on the same platform, with additional capabilities to enable enterprises to build, publish, and manage their externally-facing APIs. Anypoint API Manager is currently in private beta and will be released this summer.
