Upcoming webinar: B2B/EDI and the agile supply chain

Agile supply chain

If you think the world is becoming more complex, you are probably right. One place where this is readily apparent is the supply chain industry. It used to be that a typical supply chain was made up of 5 or 6 suppliers. Now, thanks to specialized manufacturing and globalization, a supply chain might have hundreds of partners with complex relationships. This has had profound consequences on numerous industries, notably retail, logistics, and manufacturing.

One of the great uses of Anypoint Platform is automating business processes that need to interact with multiple systems and deliver useful functions. Many times these business processes are ones that started out requiring humans and as the business has grown it has become clear that the human process will no longer scale with the demand.

Introducing Auto-Paging for Anypoint Connectors

Back in the old days when I used to write SaaS integration apps for living (long time ago, like 2 months back…) I always found it somehow difficult to reconcile large datasets with the Anypoint Cloud Connectors. Don’t get me wrong, I love those connectors! They solve a lot of issues for me, from actually dealing with the API to handle security and reconnection. However, there’re use cases in which you want to retrieve large amounts of data from a Cloud Connectors (let’s say retrieve my 600K Salesforce contacts and put them in a CSV file). You just can’t pass that amount of information in one single API call, not to even mention that you’ll most likely won’t even be able to hold all of those contacts in memory. All of these puts you in a situation in which you will need to get the information in pages.

SOA School: Governance 2.0 with Anypoint Service Registry

The Service Oriented Architecture stipulates a change in perspective for software purchase and development which traditionally limited itself to catering for the isolated needs of a department or sub-division of the Enterprise. SOA exploits emerging standards to facilitate the development and purchase of software so that the requirements of the Enterprise as a whole are satisfied. Thus, services are identified, defined and subsequently reused in orchestrations with other services that map to the processes which form the life arteries of the Business. SOA advises the use of a Service Registry to govern the initiative in order to ensure the proper re-use of existing candidate Services and their compliance to the policies of the Enterprise. That said, in recent times, with the explosion of APIs, the Enterprise has flung open its doors and windows and ripped off its roof in order to reach to the sky to exploit the vast array of cloud-based services on offer and include them in its software inventory. Thus, the New Enterprise has come of age and brought with it the need for a suitable form of Governance.  With Anypoint Service Registry, MuleSoft are the first to offer a cloud-based Governance solution which allows the New Enterprise to securely register, discover, manage and monitor its services as well as the consumers of those services. With this post, we’d like you to see for yourselves how Anypoint sets the standard for next generation SOA Governance.

Introducing The Anypoint Platform

This is the most exciting time to be in the enterprise.  When I started my career, I was usually asked to integrate to two types of applications: large legacy mainframe systems that had a team of ‘experts’ acting as gatekeepers and horribly customised enterprise applications that frankly nobody wanted to touch without a team of ‘experts’ to blame if things broke. There was nothing glamorous about my chosen vocation, yet I loved it.  I wanted to figure out how to make these applications to better work together.
