Gartner has named MuleSoft a Leader in its 2017 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) for the fourth year in a row, demonstrating the longevity of our expertise and innovation in this space. MuleSoft is the only vendor to be named a Leader in both the for iPaaS, the for Full Lifecycle API Management, and the Market Guide for On-Premises Application Integration Suites. Take a look at the latest reports, which include the quadrant graphics and the Gartner Market Guide for Hybrid Integration Platform-Enabling Technologies.

“Today, winning organizations rely on hybrid integration platforms to quickly and easily connect their applications, data, and devices to achieve business outcomes,” says Mark Dao, our chief product officer. “MuleSoft is dedicated to supporting hybrid integration needs for over 1,000 customers like McDonald’s, Unilever and Salesforce.”

“ With Anypoint Platform,” Mark continues, “our customers are delivering new customer experiences, increasing operational efficiency and bringing new products to market faster. We believe Gartner’s consistent recognition of MuleSoft as a leader in both iPaaS, and full lifecycle API management further validates the breadth and depth of our platform, in addition to our ability to help organizations innovate and drive competitive advantage.”

Why iPaaS is a crucial part of enterprise IT infrastructure

The reason Anypoint Platform has become a critical component for many companies is that it goes a long way to closing the gap between the demands of the modern enterprise and IT’s capacity to deliver. IT has a relatively fixed set of resources and therefore a constrained capacity to deliver on new projects; in fact, two-thirds of IT decision makers tell us that their budgets will either stay the same or grow a negligible amount in the next 12 months. However, digital forces — IoT, SaaS applications, mobile, etc. — need to be addressed urgently, which creates increasing demand and causing IT to fall behind.

The best way to scale IT’s delivery capacity is to rethink the project delivery model; rather than simply delivering projects, central IT enables the rest of the business to self-serve reusable assets and artifacts to be composed and recomposed into new capabilities and experiences while maintaining security and governance.

McDonald’s provides a great example of how companies are using Anypoint Platform to do this; as one of the world’s largest restaurant chains with approximately 36,000 locations in 119 countries, McDonald’s is evolving to become a modern and progressive burger company. The restaurant is implementing a digital transformation of its global business to deepen customer engagement, improve customer experience, and attract new, young, and repeat customers.

McDonald’s is currently building an application network utilizing Anypoint Platform, replacing a number of disparate API management and legacy software integration products. McDonald’s application network connects its proprietary e-commerce systems and other back-end databases to create a set of reusable APIs for orders, nutrition, customer, location, and offers. These APIs can be used to rapidly compose customer-facing applications for mobile, social, web, and restaurant-based kiosks. For example, using Anypoint Platform, McDonald’s enabled its mobile app to enhance the customer’s experience by offering location-based alerts with promotional offers, menu information, and a restaurant locator.  With Anypoint Platform, McDonald’s is realizing internal IT efficiencies by reusing applications and APIs, which allows it to drive new digital project initiatives faster than they did before.

MuleSoft as an iPaaS Leader

The authors of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise iPaaS report noted that “Leaders in this market have a notable market presence and a proven track record in enabling multiple integration use cases — often supported by the large global networks of their partners. Leader visions are typically focused on incrementally improving existing capabilities and addressing emerging requirements, while aggressively expanding market share via new channels and through industry or geographic expansion strategies. Leaders understand what is required to drive the enterprise iPaaS market regarding technology, adoption patterns, use cases and industry impact.”

MuleSoft has long been recognized as a Leader both in the iPaaS and the API management space. Download the Gartner report today to learn more about MuleSoft as an iPaaS, and find out more about how Anypoint Platform could help you digitally transform your business.
