Reading Time: 14 minutes

The buzz of AI agents is all around us. With bright lights, great conversations, a phenomenal keynote, and informative theater and panel sessions, this year’s Connect:AI was a one-of-a-kind event that won’t soon be forgotten.

As businesses jump headfirst into the exciting world of AI agents, they’re asking the same question: “How do we get agent-ready quickly?” The good news: it’s by using your business’s existing architecture as the foundation.

MuleSoft customers are already well-positioned for the agent era. They’re able to leverage their existing building blocks to power agent actions and build on top of their existing investments – all while enabling agents to interact with their systems, applications, and each other.

At Connect:AI, our customers, partners, and MuleSoft experts got a sneak peek at how we’re extending our core capabilities to prepare you for a multi-agent future where AI agents work together in harmony to complete tasks on your behalf.

Whether you missed Connect:AI this year or just want to relive the magic, we’ll explore MuleSoft’s vision for the agentic enterprise and what that future holds.

Keynote recap: Accelerate your agentic transformation

During the keynote address, Andrew Comstock, SVP and GM of MuleSoft, explained the evolution of technology as we know it. In the past, IT teams were focused on connecting your organization’s digital assets. But soon, every system and application is going to have agents.

While the technology landscape is changing, the core challenge of connecting and orchestrating remains. By connecting your agents, they won’t just process information; they’ll actually do things, anywhere in your business. We call this agent actionability.

Agent actionability is when our composable processes extend and are augmented by new orchestration technologies, MCP, A2A, and AI-generated code.

– Andrew Comstock, SVP and GM, MuleSoft

CEOs and CIOs are pushing their teams to become agent-ready. But many don’t know where to start, and others may be waiting to see what mistakes their competitors make. Instead of waiting to strike, you need to act now to gain a competitive edge.

Think of Blockbuster and Netflix during the cloud boom. Netflix started with delivering DVDs by mail, but quickly adapted to streaming and went all-in on cloud. Now look where they are today. Nobody wants to be a Blockbuster in the world of streaming platforms.

With agents, this same transformative opportunity is right in front of us again. MuleSoft is here to help you build an integrated, autonomous enterprise to meet the growing demands of your business, your customers, and the market. This is the “foundation” you need to gain a competitive edge over your competition.

The next evolution of MuleSoft

To help you on this journey, we’re leading the charge by taking our hardened platform for composability and expanding it to actionability.

This means that the platform you know and love is evolving with AI and agent-ready enhancements. From building and connecting agents with your existing systems, to multi-agent orchestration in a secure and governed environment, you’ll be able to create agent-ready actions in no time.

Say hello to the new breed of MuleSoft and our latest innovations:

  • MuleSoft, your way: Developers should be able to design, develop, and test in their AI IDE of choice. Extend MuleSoft’s development capabilities, using natural language prompts, to any MCP-supported IDE, such as Cursor and Windsurf.
  • MCP Support: Enable users to transform APIs and applications into agent-ready assets to accelerate development. With MCP-enabled integrations, users can power AI agents with real-time, relevant business context unique to their organizations.
  • Agent-to-Agent (A2A) Support: Simplify how teams orchestrate agent-to-agent communication and lays the foundation for scalable, multi-agent systems. Leverage the best protocols, tools, and governance capabilities to enable secure collaboration and coordinated agent action across complex environments.
  • MuleSoft Governance for Agents: AI agents introduce new challenges for protecting your enterprise. We’ve expanded our governance capabilities so that you can protect, monitor, and manage all agent interactions, including MCP and A2A protocols, from a single control plane.

Customer interview spotlight: RBC Wealth Management and AstraZeneca

During the keynote, we interviewed leaders from RBC Wealth Management and AstraZeneca who shared how they’re leveraging their existing MuleSoft building blocks to expand capabilities and accelerate adoption of new agent use cases.

From RBC Wealth Management, we spoke with Greg Beltzer, Head of Digital, US, EMEA & APAC, who discussed how RBC Wealth Management is priming 25+ existing APIs for agent action. Greg also discussed how to “get a seat at the table” when partnering with business stakeholders to accelerate transformation.

From AstraZeneca, we spoke with Wayne Filin-Matthews, Distinguished Chief Architect, who discussed how AstraZeneca initially collaborated with MuleSoft to streamline development efforts with reusable components. AstraZeneca is now expanding its infrastructure to incorporate agents. With MuleSoft at the core of this transformation, AstraZeneca will extend its composable architecture to orchestrate and connect agent actions across multiple departments.

With these standout customer examples, the message is clear: With MuleSoft organizations can expand on their existing investments to drive agentic transformation. We’re helping them, and we can help you, too.
