The world runs on data — and everyday we are producing more and more of it (at least 2.5 quintillion bytes of data each day to be exact). Enterprises today need access to their data across the wide range of systems and applications they use on a daily basis. Enabling access to that data and being able to quickly compose applications is critical in order for organizations to deliver seamless customer experiences and meet key business priorities.

Data silos hinder more than 90% of organizations every year. To keep up with ever-changing market demands, teams need to be able to manage the full lifecycle of APIs and build an ecosystem to integrate their systems and datasets, in addition to enabling security, governance, and automation.

API management and enterprise integration-platform-as-a-service (EiPaaS) are two solutions that can solve the data silos challenge that IT teams face today. However, these are generally separate solutions. In this blog post, I’ll explain why you need a unified approach to integration and API management and why Anypoint Platform is perfectly suited to cover the range of capabilities needed by both.

Learn why we are the Leaders in API management and iPaaS

Combining API management + EiPaaS

Enterprise iPaaS solutions are cloud applications that enable connectivity with other cloud-based software, SaaS, on-premises, and legacy applications. Users can develop and deploy integration flows between these systems without installing or managing any hardware or middleware.

Full lifecycle API management solutions enable organizations to view, manage, and govern all of their APIs via a single pane of glass. This ensures that each API is secured properly and gives teams visibility into servicing and troubleshooting when errors arise. These solutions also make it easy for APIs to be accessed and discovered for reuse in other projects.

While these two solutions can stand on their own, they don’t solve the full range of challenges IT organizations face today. MuleSoft combines these two powerful technologies to enable the composable enterprise with Anypoint Platform. With the flexibility of an iPaaS solution and the governing power of a full lifecycle API management system, enterprises can seamlessly connect all of their systems, applications, and data to keep up with the pace of innovation in the market. With our unique unified platform for both iPaaS, API management, and automation, we are helping companies build a composable future.

“Companies need to become a composable business, where every asset in the organization — data, automations, and applications — becomes secure, reusable building blocks that are easily discovered and accessed.” — Meir Amiel, Chief product officer, MuleSoft
