RPA is one of the fastest-growing segments in the enterprise software market. In fact, “by the end of 2022, 85 percent of large and very large organizations will have deployed some form of RPA,” per Gartner

Vendors are strategically leveraging their network of technology and implementation partners to meet the rising customer automation demands. To scale and address a broader set of automation use cases, we are pleased to announce the launch of the MuleSoft RPA Ecosystem.

Why does MuleSoft need an RPA Ecosystem?

No one automation vendor can solve all automation use cases. For instance, one technology focuses on offering vertical-specific automation solutions while another offers niche solutions to address customers’ distinct automation needs, e.g. document processing, chatbots, and more.

For this reason, customers who have invested in multiple automation tools find it challenging to streamline. MuleSoft’s vision is to offer an automation ecosystem that will address broader use cases and interoperability across the complementary automation technologies so organizations can uncover new business opportunities faster and more cost-effectively.

What technology does hyperautomation need?

  • Robotic process automation (RPA) and iPaaS to automate rule-based, mundane, repetitive tasks
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML): Tools ranging from natural language process (NLP) to chatbots to extend the capabilities of automation
  • IDP: To accept images from a variety of input sources and can output the extracted data in all major file formats for easy integration into RPA, BPM, ECM, and iPaaS platforms
  • Process mining: To identify process bottlenecks and recommend areas for optimization, which could include automation opportunities
  • IBPMS: Embedded with low code and AI technologies, these tools offer key insights into the behavioral patterns of the processes
  • iPaaS: Leverage API and connectors so automation engines can access needed data for decision making

Why the MuleSoft RPA Ecosystem is relevant to our hyperautomation vision

Enterprise automation extends beyond RPA. Today’s automation needs extend beyond simple front office app automation to high-impact use cases that involve multiple applications, processes, and technologies seamlessly working together.

Bridging the gap between these technologies is fundamental to achieving their Hyperautomation vision. Hyperautomation requires extended automation capabilities (process mining, document intelligence, AI/ML). Say a sales rep wants to close a deal. A typical workflow requires understanding a contract via IDP, email classification via NLP, automatically generating invoices with RPA integration, forecasting leads, and integration with conversation AI. Does it seem like something is missing here?

What’s happening at CONNECT?

At MuleSoft CONNECT 2022, we are laying the foundation of MuleSoft’s RPA Ecosystem by launching partnerships with four leading automation vendors in the IDP and process mining space. Check them out, and browse their solutions below.

Ephesoft

Ephesoft turns documents into structured, actionable data. Powered by AI and OCR, its intelligent document processing (IDP) platform automatically captures, classifies, and extracts data from any incoming or archival document type and exports the data into MuleSoft RPA or any other application. Ephesoft Transact features multi-language, cursive handwriting and complex table data extraction capabilities.

Applica.ai

Applica.ai aims to decode and automate even the most complex documents, no matter if the documents contain text, tables, signatures, or checkboxes.

Apromore

A business process analytics platform supporting the full spectrum of process mining functionality. Apromore empowers businesses by unlocking the full potential of their data through process mapping and modeling, predictive analysis, and automation. It offers process mining functionality for organizations to identify areas of process deadlocks.

Hyperscience

Hyperscience helps automate the slowest, most dated document- and data-heavy processes. Classify, extract, and package information from incoming or archival handwritten or machine-typed documents to reduce data backlog, improve citizen response times, and drive better agency outcomes.
