Below are six online hackathons aimed at combating the issues the world is facing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

#1 HackQuarantine 

HackQuarantine is a three-week-long virtual hackathon that will empower hackers to work toward improving health, remote working, and helping vulnerable populations during this pandemic. There are four tracks in this hackathon: supporting people quarantined or at risk, tech and health, remote work, and improving awareness and behavior.

#2 #COVIDathon

The Decentralized Artificial Intelligence Alliance (DAIA), an organization comprised of more than 50 companies, nonprofits, and labs, is launching the COVIDathon to reduce the risk of current and future infectious outbreaks. The goal of this challenge is to develop and launch open-source code and tools that are supported and guided by medical, AI, and blockchain experts and principles.

#3 #BuildforCOVID19 Global Online Hackathon

The COVID-19 Global Hackathon is an opportunity for developers to build software solutions that drive social impact, targeting some of the challenges related to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Technology companies and platforms like AWS, Facebook, Giphy, Microsoft, Pinterest, Salesforce, Slack, TikTok, Twitter, and WeChat are supporting this cause.

#4 Virtual Low-Code Hack vs. COVID-19

OutSystems is hosting a low-code hackathon as a complementary effort to #BuildforCOVID19 and the #WirVsVirus Hackathon hosted by the German government. This effort is focused on speed rather than perfection in the fight against COVID-19 as encouraged by the World Health Organization.

#5 AI4D Predict the Global Spread of COVID-19

South African startup Zindi is hosting a challenge to accurately predict the spread of COVID-19 for policymakers and health workers to take appropriate actions to contain and mitigate the impact of the disease.

#6 Hack The Crisis Australia

Hack The Crisis Australia is an online hackathon where participants can form teams to develop technological solutions. This event is aimed at improving the quality of life while in isolation. With so many already in isolation, Hack The Crisis aims to make life in quarantine more manageable.

Participants will form teams through Hack The Crisis’ main Slack workspace by April 3. Entries must be submitted via Devpost for judging by April 5.
