As part of the Connect:AI event series, the MuleSoft team convened in San Francisco on June 5th to hear from product leaders and customers on how MuleSoft is enabling IT leaders to drive agentic transformation.
Build the Foundation for Your Agentic Enterprise
Kicking off with a keynote, MuleSoft leaders shared our strategy to empower the agent world across three pillars:
- Connect and Unlock AI’s Full Potential
- Orchestrate Agent Action Across the Enterprise
- Accelerate Innovation and Govern Your Multi-Agent Ecosystem
These pillars provide a framework for navigating the agentic transformation, focusing on practical approaches rather than specific product announcements.
- Connect and Unlock AI’s Full Potential: How can leaders leverage evolving technologies to help scale the agent world? MuleSoft capabilities can provide a blueprint for developers to build agents faster at scale, moving beyond simple tasks, helping to drive rapid application development, intelligent document processing, and streamlined testing processes. These innovations aim to accelerate AI application development from design to testing.
- Orchestrate Agent Action Across the Enterprise: AI innovation delivers a competitive advantage which stems from systems having access to core data — and each other. This is made possible through seamless agent action across the business by turning existing APIs into agent-ready actions, fostering inter-agent collaboration, and building sophisticated agent networks for complex tasks.
- Accelerate Innovation and Govern Your Multi-Agent Ecosystem: MuleSoft is committed to accelerating innovation while ensuring robust governance of multi-agent ecosystems, with API management tools and governance establishing guardrails for AI use cases, all designed to provide a single control point for managing a multi-agent environment.
Hearing from our customers: Deep dive with Cisco and an expert-led panel
Our team welcomed a distinguished panel of IT leaders and visionaries to share their successes and perspectives on agents, sharing real-world applications and strategic advice.
But first, Cisco’s Software Engineering Manager, Alex Solomon, offered deep insights into the practicalities and challenges of agentic transformation highlighting how MuleSoft has helped them build an efficient, powerful, scalable integration with a composable foundation.
He shared that Cisco is leveraging LLMs with MuleSoft to establish an AI-ready foundation, orchestrating secure, enterprise-ready, and scalable agentic experiences through Agent-to-Agent (A2A). The attendees were treated to detailed use cases at Cisco, such as:
- Faster new partner onboarding via an agentic experience on their partner portal, providing system access and training LLMs with knowledge bases using the MCP protocol.
- Streamlining experiences for internal sellers by aggregating quoting data from multiple systems that might not be in Salesforce.
- Rapidly conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for IT incidents by having agents check code, commits, tickets, and Splunk logs. Alex emphasized that their early API investments were crucial to their agentic journey.
Moving on to the expert panel, moderated by Rupesh Ramachandran, Sr. Director Solution Engineering at MuleSoft, the panelists offered valuable advice for navigating the agentic journey.
The panel included Victor Galvez, Director of Integration, Data Platforms at UCSF Versa AI; Sanjiv Sinha, Managing Director – Consulting, Cloud Technology Practice at Deloitte; Subhasha Ranjan, Engineering Leader, Data, Integration & AI at NVIDIA; and Alex Solomon, Software Engineering Manager at Cisco.
The Connect:AI SF panel highlighted critical strategies for AI adoption, emphasizing the importance of leveraging existing composable building blocks like system APIs as foundational “nerve agents” for AI infrastructure.
A key takeaway was the necessity of prioritizing security and governance from the outset. With so much concern over maintaining control over agents as the use and demand grows, security and governance can’t be an afterthought; it must be integral to the framework, especially given concerns like agent proliferation and the need for rigorous reviews and guardrails.
The panelists also stressed driving quantifiable business value through AI initiatives. They highlighted measuring success by metrics such as cost reduction and productivity gains, rather than merely undertaking “cool projects”. Along with this, however, they also underscored the importance of flexibility in business processes due to the rapidly changing AI landscape and the emergence of new roles.
Ultimately, the panel concluded with the collective advice around fostering close collaboration between IT and business teams and engaging in continuous learning to keep pace with the evolving AI environment.
As the content closed, our attendees were invited to a lunch and networking session with our product leaders, panelists, and hosts – rounding out an informative day about where MuleSoft is taking its customers on the agentic AI journey.
