Additionally, our Community booth held live chats for developers to virtually connect, ask questions, and share their expertise! MuleSoft developers from around the world discussed virtual MuleSoft Meetups, MUnit, and DataWeave best practices in the chat. Developers could also register to join MuleSoft Meetup groups at the Community booth to participate in future events both locally and globally.

For many of the developers that attended, our Developer Meetups was the highlight of their MuleSoft CONNECT Digital events. Each region had different speakers from the MuleSoft Community sharing their own use cases and areas of expertise. We had over 2,000 attendees at our Developer Meetups! Check out recaps of each Developer Meetup below.

MuleSoft CONNECT Digital Developer Meetups

Americas

At our first MuleSoft CONNECT Digital event, our Developer Meetup focused on DataWeave best practices and use cases. The event kicked off with Sabrina Marechal, Manager, Developer Community at MuleSoft, providing an overview of the MuleSoft Community and the multitude of opportunities for developers to get involved such as writing a blog with us!

After the introduction, Veera Gopalakrishnan, System Integration Engineer at UCSF, presented Dynamic DataWeave for secure access to UCSF EHR data. He provided an in-depth look at how UCSF externalized DataWeave scripts using Salesforce Metadata Tables to ease the process of validating and redacting patient data while maintaining required data security.

Following Veera’s technical use case, MuleSoft Ambassador and DataWeave expert Joshua Erney detailed DataWeave best practices. He led attendees through a technical demo and presentation on the Update Function or as he calls it The best thing to happen to DataWeave since sliced bread: the Update Function.

EMEA

Following our Developer Meetup in Americas, we had another packed Meetup during MuleSoft CONNECT Digital EMEA. This Meetup featured a range of topics including MUnit tests, getting started using MuleSoft, and unlocking secret data with APIs. Rohit George, RVP Customer Success at MuleSoft, began by introducing our community programs and the Meetup groups available to join in the EMEA region.

Lilly Hulse, Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice at Bentley Motors, shared How I delivered my first project using MuleSoft to unlock data at Bentley. She described her impressive journey as a new MuleSoft developer and her recent project using APIs to securely access secret data for a new mobile application.

Concluding this Developer Meetup, MuleSoft Ambassador and Warsaw Meetup leader, Patryk Bandurski discussed MUnit best practices and the importance of using MUnit tests to save time as a developer. His demo detailed how to use the MUnit Test Recorder and run parameterized tests.

APAC

Our last MuleSoft CONNECT Digital event in APAC was a huge success! Our Developer Meetup highlighted two topics: creating reusable DataWeave scripts and integrating JIRA, providing attendees a broader scope of possible MuleSoft use cases. Royston Lobo, Sr. Integration Architect at MuleSoft, kicked off the Meetup to share his unique perspective of our Developer Community and the benefits of joining.

Tyler Haigh, DevOps Engineer at NSW Pathology followed, presenting Creating reusable DataWeave scripts for Healthcare Acceleration. He showed attendees how he uses DataWeave scripts to connect applications and systems with HL7 messaging and the benefits of creating reusable APIs and DataWeave scripts for future projects.

Finally, MuleSoft Ambassador and Meetup Leader Santosh Ojha concluded our last Developer Meetup. His presentation Integrating JIRA was in-depth and demonstrated how to use MuleSoft to integrate systems with JIRA. He showed how to use MuleSoft to integrate JIRA with Gmail to solve support tickets and improve the customer experience.
