CIOs and IT departments have one common goal: to increase efficiency through technology. One way to reach this goal is by investing in the employee experience. When companies invest in a better digital workplace, their employees become more productive and ultimately drive 30% more revenue growth. Sounds pretty good, right?

But delivering a connected employee experience is hard. Enterprises need to develop applications that are both highly functional and fueled by data. This data, however, is typically housed in numerous siloed legacy systems making it difficult for employees to find what they need, when they need it. In fact, HR managers spend an average of 366.6 hours a year setting up and provisioning access to all of these apps due to back-end complexity.

With Salesforce Lightning Platform and MuleSoft, you can now transform employee experiences and build useful apps faster to relieve HR managers from mundane tasks. Together, we help:

  • Integrate all back end systems, whether on-prem or in the cloud, to get a complete, real-time view of employees.
  • Empower both declarative and programmatic developers with tools all on one platform, to build apps fast and burn down backlogs.
  • Transform every stage in the employee’s lifecycle by automating processes to increase efficiency.

With MuleSoft, you can now integrate your external employee data right into Salesforce or any other system to make user administration easy. Your HR managers can now spend time focusing on how to make employees happy, instead of access and provisioning.

Go from APIs to apps fast

By leveraging an API-led approach, rather than building custom code and starting every project from scratch, enterprises can use MuleSoft Anypoint Platform to build integrations 66% faster. Anypoint Platform allows IT teams to create an application network powered by reusable assets that are discoverable through self-service.

Once your data is unlocked using MuleSoft, you can use it to enable your business and IT teams alike to build employee apps on the Lightning Platform. So, while your IT resources remain the same, you can scale and meet the business requests faster, finally burning down that never-ending backlog.

Salesforce Lightning Platform is the world’s most trusted cloud platform for building enterprise apps, powering and extending Salesforce’s own CRM applications. With more than 7 million custom apps built by customers, Lightning Platform comprises an intuitive user experience powered by low-code, a component-based programming model, and an ecosystem of apps and components available on the AppExchange. Your business teams now have the tools they need to fulfill their own requests, while your programmatic developers (your technical developers) can focus on the highest-value initiatives.

It’s the combination of these advantages on Lightning Platform and MuleSoft that help companies boost productivity across their organization through employee apps. Customers who currently use the Lightning Platform and MuleSoft to transform their employee experience have seen a 16% increase in retention, a 33% increase in employee engagement, and a 41% increase in collaboration. But even more importantly, they report seeing 30% more revenue and 24% lower costs when using MuleSoft and Salesforce to improve employee experiences.

Case Study: How Salesforce transformed the employee experience

To have these concepts come to life, let’s take an example. And what better example than our own company, Salesforce. In order to increase our own productivity and streamline employee processes such as hiring or training, Salesforce focused on creating a connected employee experience through applications powered by integration.

To build these applications, Salesforce took an API-led approach to gain a holistic view of employees. By leveraging Anypoint Platform, Salesforce unlocked data from 16 disparate systems, including legacy and homegrown systems. Then, using that data and building on the Lightning Platform with low-code tools, Salesforce transformed the employee experience by developing new employee apps quickly, powering activities like onboarding and training.

By building reusable APIs, Salesforce is now able to reuse assets for future projects, which cut development time for new HR projects by seven months. For example, using the new Worker API, employee information is now updated at Salesforce in real-time across all systems, a big improvement from the 12 hours it took previously.
