Why it was the “best summer ever” for two MuleSoft interns

We had a great set of Muley interns this year! They tackled diverse projects that drove real value for the MuleSoft business — everything from writing whitepapers, implementing new systems, leading important research projects, or even building a full marketing campaign strategy.

The MuleSoft internship program sets students up for success with detailed project plans, mentorship opportunities, and gives them the tools and experiences they need to emerge into successful careers. By partnering with Futureforce, interns also joined in on fireside chats with executives, went on a wine trip to Sonoma County, and participated in an intern presentation day.

Meet the MuleSoft Marketing 2019 interns

Connie Hua

Connie Hua is an MBA student at Northwestern University, studying strategy and finance. During her internship, she sat on the digital marketing team and built out MuleSoft’s FY21 integrated campaign strategy.

Pranav Patel

Pranav Patel is a management information systems student at UC Riverside. For his MuleSoft internship, he was an associate product marketing manager intern.

We asked them a few questions about their summer internships at MuleSoft; here’s what they had to say:

What did the average day during your internship look like for you?

Connie:

“Filled with research, making presentations, getting to know Muleys across the organization, and of course – lots of snacks! In my role, I had to do a lot of information gathering to understand MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform and its current offerings and think about what themes would resonate most for an FY21 campaign. This requires understanding which topics would drive the most demand generation as well as internal MuleSoft data about what our customers were buying and using the product for. Throughout the process, I relied on the tremendous expertise of fellow Muleys and got a lot of data through coffee chats and quick meetings.”

What’s the best advice you got from your team?

Pranav:

“Everyone has been in my shoes at some point in time, even senior managers. So, never be afraid to ask for help, guidance, or advice in regards to my projects, my career, or even my life. Everyone at MuleSoft is more than happy to take time out of their day to help someone out even if they may just be an intern.”

What’s your favorite memory from this summer?

Connie:

“I loved my cohort of MBAs – many of whom were working for different Salesforce Clouds and were an incredible resource for me this summer. The FutureForce program organized a Sonoma Wine Tour for us which was a total blast.”

Pranav:

“During the second week of my internship, the entire product marketing team went offsite for VTO or volunteer time off in order to help paint a boat for an organization that takes veterans on the water. Not only was the painting therapeutic, but it was such a great way to get to know my team. I learned a lot about what they do outside of work and received some great food recommendations throughout the city. Afterward, the entire product marketing team Ubered back into the city where we threw a barbecue on the rooftop of my manager’s building. Instead of working together to market software, we were working together to grill burgers and cut fruit — an endeavor almost as important.”
