Upcoming presentations (June 2010)

The last days of June will be busy as I will be talking at two events happening in Vancouver, BC, on the 29th and the 30th.

In the first presentation, I will demonstrate MuleSoft’s Eclipse Tool Suite at the local Eclipse DemoCamp, an event that always has an incredible line-up, thanks to the local presence of the Tasktop and SpringSource teams. Also, the University of British Columbia oftentimes presents there Eclipse plugins that explore the cutting edge of software development.

Mashups and ESBs at Qcon

I had a great time at Qcon London last week, it really is one of the more forward thinking conferences out there for the enterprise. I gave two talks on ESBs and Enterprise Mashups so I figured I’d share the slides.

Oracle OpenWorld Wrap-up

Last week was Oracle OpenWorld here in San Francisco, a gathering of over 40,000 IT executives, architects, developers, and system administrators. MuleSoft had a major presence on the exhibition floor — our first time at this event.

The timing of the event coincided with the GA launch of Tcat Server — enterprise Tomcat made simple. To celebrate the launch, we gave out very cool T-shirts to attendees (see below for how you can get one for free!) and held drawings for various prizes throughout the duration of the show.

Come see us at Oracle OpenWorld!

Silicon Valley Code Camp 2009 is coming up quickly. It will be held on October 3rd and 4th at Foothill College in Los Altos, CA. I attended last year and found the talks to be very informative and the attendees really engaged. It’s a great format, open to anyone and free to anyone who pre-registers. Last year there was a real mix of topics and this year they are introducing tracks to help guide attendees.

Interview about MuleSource at QCon

During the QCon conference in San Francisco, I filmed an interview with Ryan Slobojan. Despite being flu-ridden throughout the week, I managed to make it through this conversation without passing out (or worse!). It was an interesting conversation, covering:

  • What the Mule ESB and Mule Galaxy are
  • Mule ESB Enterprise versus Community
  • MuleSource’s monitoring solution
  • Cloud-based deployments
  • The recession’s effect on open source

Ryan asked some good questions around differentiators and roadmap during the interview,

RESTful integration at QCon and my Dr. Dobbs podcast

I just got back from QCon in San Francisco. QCon is one of the best conferences around (IMHO). The speakers are great, the content quality is excellent, and the hallway conversations are thought provoking. If only I could’ve attended more!
